Summary:
The physical therapy assistant provides physical therapy services under the direction of the physical therapist and according to the physician’s plan of care.
Essential Functions:
- Provides direct physical therapy according to directions of a qualified physical therapist and in accordance with the physician’s plan of care and as defined in the state Physical Therapy Practice Act.
- Treats patient to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
- Follows treatment program goals to improve patient’s function as established by a physical therapist.
- Observes and reports to the physical therapist the patient’s reaction to treatment and any changes in patient’s condition.
- Maintains clinical notes which will be incorporated into the patient’s clinical record per Agency’s policies.
- Will attend meetings and in-services required by the Agency.
- Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the Agency.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of the Mount Evans mission and values.
- Excellent customer service and patient care skills.
- Basic understanding of physical therapy and medical terminology.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with either an associate degree in science or applied science that is approved by the American Physical Therapy Association, Inc.
Experience:
- Prefer a minimum of two (2) years’ experience preferably in home health care.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
- Current certification or license as required by state law.
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is reliable.
