Each year the American Red Cross collects cards between October and early December and then distributes them at military installations, veterans hospitals, and in other locations wherever the U.S. Armed Forces can be found. The cards and personal messages, sent by tens of thousands of Americans, provide a welcome “touch of home” for our troops during the holiday season.
This year, for the first time, the American Red Cross will have a table set up for mountain-area residents to bring in cards to send, sign cards on-site or make an original card to send to our troops at St. Laurence Episcopal Church, 26812 Barkley Road, Conifer, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 3 in conjunction with the church's ChristmasFest event.
There will be a children's area where youngsters can create their own cards with original messages for our troops. Anyone is welcome to create a card. The cards will be distributed by the American Red Cross no later than December 7, 2012.
