Position:  CDL-Class A or B Septic Truck Driver
 
Location:
Pine, CO (80470)
 
Hours:
Full-Time (average work day is 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday)
 
Pay Range:
($27-$35/hr)*
*Based on skill level and years of relevant experience. The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws.  Factors that may be used to determine your actual rate of pay include your specific skills, years of experience and other factors. 
 
Travel Percentage:
Local travel only (within 2 hours of Pine, CO)

Job Summary:
We are looking for a capable and mature individual to join our company. This is a physically demanding role that is responsible for conducting septic tank pumping jobs at both commercial and residential locations.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a septic pump truck (class B), manual or automatic, and associated hoses and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Provide assistance with the portable restroom division and or roll-off division as required
  • Proper machine start-up, operation and shutdown knowledge
  • Understand and follow directions from the supervisor
  • Provide prompt and appropriate responses to office-based dispatch team
  • Perform daily preventative vehicle maintenance and safety checks (pre/post trip inspections) on equipment prior to delivery to identify concerns or potential issues.
  • Drive safely in all weather conditions and follow traffic laws.
  • Safely transport and dispose of waste materials in accordance with regulations.
  • Complete jobs independently while maintaining a high standard of service.
  • Familiarity with septic system maintenance is a plus
Qualifications:
Education:
  • High school or equivalent
  • Valid CDL Class A or B Driver’s License; must be able to drive an automatic or manual transmission
 
Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year experience driving CDL Class A/B vehicles, preferably in mountain terrain and conditions
 
Certifications:
  • Valid CDL Class A/B driver’s license with clean driving record; must have tanker endorsement and air brakes
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

  • Basic knowledge and skill in preventative maintenance inspections and repairs of septic systems is a plus
  • Basic knowledge in safety and environmental regulations
  • Must be reliable and punctual
  • Excellent communication skills with customers, management, and colleagues
  • Basic knowledge of trucks (how to service, grease, etc) is a plus
 
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and driving background check
  • Sufficient hand and finger dexterity for wrenches, hand tools, and other equipment
  • Ability to sit/drive for long hours for service calls
  • Ability to carry 30ft hoses uphill
 
Work Environment: 
  • The team member will be required to complete service calls that require travel within 2 hours of the primary shop location as business needs dictate
  • The team member is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The team member will frequently work outdoors
  • Field service environment with exposure to sewer and water smells, power tool sounds, dust, and debris.

While Shirley Septic has been in business since 1972, it was acquired by the current local owners in 2022.
