Hourly pay rate: $17.00
Hours: Average of 20 hours per week

At Evergreen Audubon we are a passionate and enthusiastic group of nature lovers dedicated to helping individuals of all ages connect with nature on a more meaningful level and gain a better understanding of our natural world. The Environmental Educator (EE) will work collaboratively with our experienced staff and volunteers to develop, lead, and evaluate our education programs for all ages. The EE will help staff the Evergreen Nature Center (ENC) during open hours including Saturdays and Sundays.

Primary Responsibilities:
Program Management and Implementation

  • Design and implement educational programs for community and school group
  • Develop and lead public program offerings at the Evergreen Nature Center
  • Assist in the setup and cleanup of program areas
  • Collaborate with staff to develop, enhance, and implement curricula and programs
  • Lead after-school programming at local elementary schools
  • Lead summer camp programming from June to August
  • Work closely with community partners to offer high-quality partner programs
  • Assist with social media content creation and program promotion
Staffing the Evergreen Nature Center
  • Staff the Evergreen Nature Center during operational hours including weekends
  • Provide positive interactions with visitors and groups at the ENC
  • Provide interpretation of exhibits and local wildlife
  • Run sales in the Nature Center gift shop
  • Support and cultivate positive engagement with ENC volunteers
  • Assist with the design, construction, and upkeep of educational exhibits
  • Assist with daily care of ENC animal ambassadors
  • Accurately report ENC visitor information and sales transactions
  • Enthusiasm for nature and learning
  • Experience with or strong interest in teaching environmental education in informal settings
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Knowledge of basic natural history and conservation issues; familiar with Rocky Mountain ecosystems
  • Strong communication skills with adults and children
  • Team player, fun, outgoing, passionate, organized, creative, resourceful, critical thinker, and self-motivated
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
  • Flexible and willing to perform all duties as directed including weekend and evening work
  • Ability to handle changes in daily work schedule due to weather, programs or staffing needs
  • Spanish speaking ability desired, but not required.
