From the creative to the practical, you will experience the hands-on process of taking your idea from just that-- an idea--to words on paper, developed and nurtured to the point of a publishable piece of work. Workshop Description
Have you been thinking about writing a book? In this enjoyable four week workshop we will explore the techniques and tools it takes to bring your book out of your imagination and into the world for readers to enjoy. Join local author Elizabeth A A Wilson for four evenings to put pen to paper and take the first giant leaps on your journey to authorship.
WEEK 1 (9/13): CREATING THE HIGH CONCEPT
A well formulated concept is the seed that carries the infinite potential. This is where all best sellers are born. Discover powerful techniques for stimulating your imagination and creativity. Begin to formulate your concept and expect to leave the workshop buzzing with ideas! Bring your favorite writing materials.
WEEK 2 (9/20): DEVELOPING THE OUTLINE
The outline of your book is the train track that you later flesh out with beautiful prose. Discover the Snowflake method of turning your concept into a logical plot, and explore the tools you need to stay focused and disciplined during this phase.
WEEK 3 (9/27): WRITING THE STORY
Turn your outline into a beautifully crafted story with the devices and tricks of the trade that make a book engaging and exciting to read. Learn the tools for stimulating your authentic voice and creative expression.
WEEK 4 (10/4): TAKING YOUR BOOK TO MARKET
Understand the ins and outs of getting published. Both self-publishing and traditional publishing require courage, stamina and persistence, and the ability to turn every rejection into a launching pad for success. Leave with sure-fire ways to harness the qualities you need to share your message with the world.
About Elizabeth A A Wilson:
Elizabeth A A Wilson is an internationally published novelist, ordained minister and chocolatier’s wife. Her passion for story began in her early childhood and led to a lifetime of inner study, wonder and expression. Her published work includes two novels, several spiritual short stories and self-healing books. She has starred in an award-winning documentary about the art of limitation and continues her exploration of the mysteries of the mind with her healing and story-telling. Elizabeth is the cousin of Christian Saint Dorothy Kerin and founder of Kerin School of Healing.
