Melanie Fernandi's bio:
Melanie Fernandi is ready to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with her peers as a great singer and songwriter with her Acoustic Rock/Adult Contemporary songs.
The New Jersey native grew up with music thanks to her family’s upbringing. She began singing before she could speak and was composing her own original songs by the time she was 10 years old. She later taught herself how to play guitar with some help from mom and dad, and her 3 older brothers.
Fernandi shared her music skills with local audiences as a cabaret performer at NYC’s Don’t Tell Mama’s in the Summer of 1994. In 1995, she relocated to Europe and performed in various countries such as Canada, Italy, France, Spain and the Czech Republic. She returned to the U.S. later that year and settled in Seattle where she lived until 2006.
It was in Seattle that Fernandi would establish her music career, after attending college and completing her Master’s Degree in acupuncture. She put a band together and conquered the local scene with her Folk/Rock songs. Fans often compare her to artists such as Tori Amos, Natalie Merchant, Joni Mitchell and Alanis Morissette.
“A lot of my songs are about coming together, or healing of the soul via self-love and belief in oneself,” she explains. “Some of my songs are about people in my life - learning to grow, dealing with addiction, divorce, death, etc...; subjects I think anyone can relate to.”
Melanie Fernandi continued to write and play music during her 8.5 years in New York City. Her music has been featured in several independent films and documentaries. Dr. Oz has played some of her songs on Oprah Winfrey’s XM Radio station and she has performed at a variety of prestigious events and private functions.
In 2014, Melanie moved to the mountain community of Conifer, CO, where she seems to finally have found a loving home for her music. You can find her or her band, “Fernandi & Friends” playing in the the area almost every weekend.
You can check out music, live videos and events on her Facebook band page.
