CHSM Book Club: Reaching Rocky Mountain Jim

This free virtual book club hosted by Conifer Historical Society features "Reaching Rocky Mountain Jim" about James Nugent - better known as Rocky Mountain Jim - and Isabella Bird - a strong willed Englishwoman.

 

James is a hunter and trapper in Estes Park in 1873 who lives alone in his cabin, scarred physically from a vicious grizzly bear attack and emotionally from previous war experiences. When Isabella visits the area, Jim acts as her guide in a treacherous ascent up Longs Peak Mountain and Lord Dunraven schemes to turn the region into his own private game preserve.
