DESCRIPTION:Evergreen Park & Recreation District (EPRD) presents its 3rd annual Premier-Special Olympics Basketball Showcase on Sunday\, Jan. 17\, 2015. \n\n\n\nFormer NBA star Keith Van Horn's Colorado Premier Basketball Team will hold a clinic and play a unified game with EPRD's Special Olympics Wildcat Basketball Team. \n\n\n\nThe event\, starting at 3 PM at Wulf Recreation Center\, will give special needs kids an opportunity to learn new skills and enjoy a unified basketball game with more advanced athletes. Tickets just $5 person/$10 family at the door.\n\n\n\nIn a short ceremony just before the game\, EPRD will honor local heroes who have supported the social needs community. \n\n\n\n"The Hero presentation will honor outstanding folks for unselfish acts of kindness to people with disabilities\," said Maren Schreiber\, program coach and EPRD's Special Populations Coordinator. "It's inclusion at its best!"\n\n\n\nThose being honored in 2016 include are the Geezer Racing Club for raising $1\,500 for Special Needs\, the Sweeney family for holding the BOO TOO! fundraiser that raised over $6\,000\, and to Martha Biasi and her son Tom Biasi for volunteering\, recruiting\, and making the program better.\n\n\n\nThis year's event will also feature a silent auction.
