What is the state doing to help CO businesses?

What is the state doing to help CO businesses?

Many businesses are struggling with the new Red Level and what it means to them. I have been in close contact with our state and local representatives, health departments and the county attorney office. Last spring when everything hit, I started information as soon as I knew something. I will start that again here in this blog and send the link out when I have new information.
If you have any questions about how the order applies to your business, how to adjust business to stay open, creative solutions to save money, or redirecting workforce. If I don't have the answer, I can get the answer. The Conifer Chamber is here to fight for you!

I just received this email from Senator Tammy Story regarding Governor Plois' announcement last night for the Extraordinary Session. Tammy's email is below. If you have any questions, let me know.
----

Last night Governor Polis made the call for the Extraordinary Session to begin on Monday, November 30th. The session can be called with a limited focus of work items. The purpose is to provide a bridge of relief to those believed to be most impacted by the impacts of COVID-19 and the resulting economic challenges.

I have attached the order. If you scroll down to page 3, I think, you will find details of suggested elements to support small businesses, including restaurants. There is a suggestion to waive payment of the 2.9% sales tax up to $2000 per mont, other direct aid to small businesses and more.

The suggestions of relief for elements related to business and all other categories will have to be passed in bills by the legislature during the special session in order to tap into the general fund.

If all goes well, by the end of the week of November 30th, relief will be on its way for small businesses, child care providers, housing, utility and food pantry/ food bank assistance, and broadband expansion related to students and teachers

This is a collaborative effort between the Governor and the legislature to hopefully provide a bridge of relief to keep people fed and in their homes, to keep businesses and child care operators functioning and paying their staff and support public education during this very challenging time.

Please help us knock down this virus by wearing your mask whenever away from your home, wash your hands thoroughly, keep 6’ of physical distance inside and outside, and limit social gatherings including forgoing a traditional Thanksgiving celebration. Sacrifice one season to be able to enjoy the balance of a lifetime of seasons with all of the people you love.

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m pulling for you, Kiki, and other families and business owners who are struggling in this time.

Best regards,
Tammy Story
